School of Religion
Sacred Heart Parish community cherishes our children. As a community of believers we work together to raise them in the Catholic faith. Parents are the primary educators of their children and are supported by the Pastor, a religious education staff, and approximately ninety volunteer catechists.
The goal of the Sacred Heart School of Religion Program is to guide and assist parents in forming the faith of their children by:
- teaching them the doctrines of the Catholic Church
- teaching them the prayers and traditions of the Church
- familiarizing them with Sacred Scripture
- teaching Christian values and showing them how to live according to those values
- presenting them with opportunities to serve others
These classes are for children who attend public education. Classes are offered on Sunday mornings from 9:30am-10:45am as well as Wednesday evening for Kindergarten – Seventh Grade from 6:30pm-7:45pm. Classes are posted on the Parish Master Calendar. For a printable version for just School of Religion please visit the “Class Schedules” link.
Kindergarten - 8th grade program curriculums is taught out of Blest Are We published by RCL Benzinger. Additional information for this series can be found at www.BlestAreWe.com. There are several links at this site which can be used at home to enhance your child’s learning and understanding of the material they are learning in class.
Sacramental Years also uses additional material to prepare them for sacraments such as The Gift of Reconciliation, The Gift of Eucharist and Confirmation. Please see information under Sacraments for more information on parent meetings, retreats and practices.
