In the month of May, Catholics show their devotion to the Blessed Virgin in many wonderful ways which enliven all the days of the month, following closely the Second Vatican Council's recommen-dation that the entire body of the faithful pour forth instant supplications to the Mother of God and Mother of men that she, who aided the beginnings of the Church by her prayers, may now, exalted as she is above all the angels and saints, intercede before her Son in the fellowship of all the saints, and are urged to value highly the practices and exercises of piety, recommended by the Magisterium of the Church towards her in the course of centuries." (excepts taken from Lumen Gentium, 69) I want to encourage you to find a special way to show signs of love for Our Lady this month. Some ideas you might consider: Visit shrines or churches dedicated to her, offer her special presents, offerings, little sacrifices in her honor, works of love, periods of study, or perhaps a more attentive recitation of the Rosary. If you have specific questions or ideas, please let me know! Our Lady loves you and wants to lead you ever closer to Our Lord, her son, Jesus.
