Charisms

"To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit." - 1 Corinthians 12:11

What are Charisms?

In the Catholic Church, charisms are described as graces of the Holy Spirit that are given to individuals for the building up of the Church and the service of others. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, charisms are special abilities that enable Christians to be powerful channels of God's love and to manifest God's presence in the world. They are not inherited but are given to each person by the Holy Spirit, with the primary purpose being to serve the Church and contribute to its renewal and growth.

We invite all adults in our parish to complete a charism assessment. Please contact Char Mies at charlene.mies@shoj.org for more details.
